Any yarn and any hook size will do for this pattern.
I used a variegated polyacrylic yarn - Tahiti Batik, I bought in Germany on our holidays.
fingering weight and hook size 4.5mm
Gauge 1 heart block = 5 x 6 cm
Gauge 1 heart block = 5 x 6 cm
You will need a multiple of 8 plus1 plus 2(beginning chain) (for every heart add 8 chains)
I start and end my round with a DC2together to make a nice edge.
3 Hearts = 24 plus 1 plus 2 = 27
R1, CH27, DC in 3rd CH from hook, CH3, skip 3st, *DC in next st, CH3, skip 3st* repeat 5 times total, DC2together in last st, CH2 and turn
R2, DC in same st as CH2, CH2, 3DC on top of next DCst, CH2, DC on top of next DCst, CH2, *3DC on top of next DCst, CH2, DC on top of next DCst, CH2* repeat 2 times, DC2together in last st, CH2 and turn
R3, DC in same st as CH2, CH1, *2DC in next st, (DC, HDC, DC) in next st, 2DC in next st, CH1, DC in next DCst, CH1* repeat 1 more time, 2DC in next st, (DC, HDC, DC) in next st, 2DC in next st, CH1, DC2together in last st, CH1 and turn
R4, SC in same st as CH1, skip CH1, *SC in next st, skip st, 3DC in next st, SLST in next st, 3DC in next st, skip st, SC in next st, skip CH1, SC on top of next DCst, skip CH* repeat 2 more times, skip CH1, SC in last st, CH2 and turn
R5, DC in same st as CH2, *CH3, skip 4st, DC in next st * repeat 5 times in total, CH3, DC2together in last st, CH2 and turn
R6, DC in same st as CH2, CH3, *DC on top of next DCst, CH3* repeat 5 times in total, DC2together in last st, CH2 and turn
Repeat R2-R6 until you reach your desired length
